Let’s meet the mom!

nik_5439-web

This is the mom! Her name is Jennifer. She is a mom, sister, friend, wife, daughter, aunt and is just like any other woman out there in the world, just like you. She has a full time job working with kids and yes she is a special woman.

She spends her day working with and helping teach a room full of young kids then goes home to be with her own. She wants the best for her family and herself. She lives each day for others. She focuses on others’ needs and rarely on herself.

She came to us because she needed and wanted something for herself. Something that made her FEEL like the beautiful woman she is.

We did just that for her. We doted on her and gave her the experience of a day just for her! We got her in our makeup chair and went to work. She was like a model being prepared for a magazine shoot.

We gave her pampering like she has never had. We gave her a beautiful makeover and had some fun doing it. She talked with us about her life and we could see how much she does for everyone else and that made us all the more excited to be able to give this to her.

After about 45 minutes of makeup and laughs we started her session……(Lights, Camera, Action (sort of). Move, this way, look that way, wear this, smile, breathe, relax and let us coach you into the perfect position and we did!

She did so well and loved it so much she glowed! Her smile lit up the room and we made some fabulous images. We also gave her some fabulous memories, both of which will last her lifetime and beyond.

#Existinphotographs!

“Oh I would love to have a session with you but……….. I need to lose 20 pounds, I need to gather up the courage, I need to get more money together, I hate the way I look in photographs, I don’t need any images of myself.”

Lacie 5 web saying

We have heard excuse after excuse that people offer up to keep from scheduling a shoot with us. And I am certain there are many others to come, but I want to say that none of them are excuse enough.

I say we as women need to EXIST IN PHOTOS!  We take pictures of our kids, of our parents, of our spouses and pets, yet we miss out on the idea that we need to be in the images too.

Have you ever thought of what you are leaving behind? Have you ever thought of how it will feel when you are 10 years older, 20 years older or even 50 years older and you look back to find so very few images of the younger versions of you?

Have you thought about what it will be like when you are older and have so little to show your kids and grand kids about how you used to be? So little to show your progression in age, of how you became the you that you will be.

It is time for us to EXIST IN PHOTOS! Your family, your kids, your grand kids and even you deserve to have images with you in them. You all deserve to have absolutely beautiful and gorgeous images of YOU!

There is no need to loose that weight you THINK that you need to loose. You are a thing of beauty as you are. You don’t need to gather courage, you are strong and confident and we will help you. You don’t need more money, we offer payment plans for that. You may hate the way you look, but I promise we can make you love the way you look in your images. You may not thing you need images of yourself, but you do and so does your family.

Your family and you deserve to have images of you that you love. And later when you are older you will have that priceless portrait of YOU in all your beauty. You can have it to show kids and grand kids and even more importantly than that, your family will have those images to cherish for a lifetime once you are gone. This is the most priceless aspect of beautiful images.

It is the emotion behind them. The love that can be shown and held there for many lifetimes to come. Images of those we love are priceless, why else would you take all the phone images you do? Why else would it be so traumatic to lose those pictures when a computer or phone fails? These reasons are also why it is so important to have an actual physical portrait. Something that can’t be lost to a virus infected computer. A beautiful portrait on the wall to show off for a lifetime.

There are so many reasons to get beautiful images of you and to #EXISTINPHOTOGRAPHS, so what exactly are you waiting for? What is your excuse?

Well, that is not a good enough reason. Just do it and EXIST IN PHOTOS!

The Perry Family

We are glamour and boudoir portrait photographers BUT sometimes…..yes…..we do families. And this is a family that is dear to my heart, she’s my sister! Yes we don’t always do family sessions, but when we do they are gorgeous!

I have grown to love capturing images in the evening sun. Whether it be the sun beams, a backdrop of the sun in the image or back lit  I think they all make beautiful images. I absolutely love the warmth this kind of ‘golden hour’ sun gives. And for this family to be able to have these images  forever will be absolutely awesome. This was a fun session and it makes me more open to doing more 🙂

Interesting ideas

This image!

We had a client recently, she was a lovely lady. We had our pre-consultation with her and it was a great conversation. She told us why she needed this and about her life at home with you 2 young children and up coming wedding. We could not wait to make this session happen for her.

In her words ‘she needed this’. Then she began giving us some of her ideas for the session. Most of them were similar to previous sessions. But then she mentioned her love of bow hunting.

She has been an avid hunter for several years (which I find fascinating, not a common practice for women). But it’s something she did and thoroughly enjoyed. Then she told us she really wanted a sexy photo that she could express this side of her in and she definitely wanted her prized possession in it……her bow!

At first my partner and I kinda gave each other that look. If you have a business partner, you know what look. The one where we try not to be obvious but buy each others LOOK we know what they are thinking and we were both thinking ‘what will we do with that?’.

But our client had an idea. She told us the look she was after and we shot it for her. We got this gorgeous image. It is not one I would have thought I would like but I actually love it!

It shows a gorgeous sexy woman who loves something that is typically a man’s thang and she owned it! She made this bow look sleek and sexy and all her. EMPOWERING! That is what we love about doing what we do. Empowering our clients and showing off their best selves.

It’s Senior time (and I’m not talking older ages here)!

Senior photography

I have come to thoroughly enjoy doing outdoor photography sessions for graduating seniors. They are a totally fun age group of kids! You give me an awesome location and a spunky 17 year old and I’ll get you some awesome images and we will both have fun doing it!

This age group of kids are an awesome lot to be around. They are on top of their world. They are leaving behind childhood and entering into the world of adults. They think it’s great (as an adult I think we were all scammed at that age, I’m not so sure I would call it great). But they think it is and that feeling is one thing that makes them so awesome to work with.

Happy senior campers they are and they want to get that entire personality and emotion caught on film, so to speak. And the parents are right there with them. Their baby is grown up and  we have GOT to stop time here and keep it forever. That’s what you get with a Senior photography session and it is a ton of fun!

Here are a few of my favorites from a session. Can’t wait to do another!

Lord, please help us……..

I am going to go off my usual topic here. I just want to say how completely upset and concerned I am for this United States of America our once great nation. First though, I must admit I AM A FACEBOOK COMMENT READER!. There I said it and I’m not ashamed. I don’t often participate but I read them and I read a lot of them. Even the replies to the replies of replies, yep, I dig that deep. This is a time passing exercise I have been partaking in for a few years now. It is some of the best cheap entertainment there is! I will read and sit in amazement of people on a daily basis.

Now here is my concern. I used to read these comments along with the back and forth banter and get a laugh out of different, off the wall things people say. Arguments back and forth of folks trying to be heard or backing a particular stance that was made and for the most part I would have to dig pretty deep in a very controversial post to find a truly heated and angry, knife throwing fight. But something has shifted. As I read now, on even the seemingly most innocent of posts all I see is HATE. It’s hate revolving around race, religion, freedoms, financial status, hair color, mental capacities, location and the list goes on and on and on and on and………..you get my drift now.

People are hating everyone around them because they are different. What I see are people trying with all their might to make others believe in or think exactly like them. They will use hate filled words, profanity and name calling to get their point across and if they don’t see eye to eye well, there it is, HATE rears it’s ugly head. We disagree; therefore, we must hate one another.

As I read it seems to me that people have become so SELF aware,SELF oriented and SELF involved that they can’t see past the nose on their face in order to feel or even attempt to understand anyone else. It has turned into a forum not for fun or mild disagreement or just to learn about what is out there but for making you believe how I believe. In the back of my mind I’m hoping some of it would never happen in a face to face confrontation. I think the safety of being on a computer in our living room gives us a little more courage to behave so badly. But all the anger I see and read can’t be contained for too long before it explodes out of the computer.

I do not understand why we can’t see each other as different, unique and important. Each an every one of us on this planet is here for a purpose (and it’s not to make us all morph into basically the same person). We have differences, we don’t have the same beliefs, upbringing, religion or even country. But do our differences mean we have to hate? Racial and religious tensions in this country are higher than I have seen in my lifetime (and I’m almost 1/2 a century old!!). It seems like only a matter of time before this country is completely divided once again, history repeating itself just one more time.

We as a human race have got to stop the hate and replace it with LOVE! Political correctness and tolerance seem to have done nothing but make tensions worse. We need to move beyond that and freaking LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR! If we could only figure this out. This is one thing I would like for us all to have in common! Just think if we love one another like we should, we could have that disagreement and it would be okay. What’s more, if I love you I will do my best NOT to hurt you. I will take your feelings and your needs into consideration. I will think of what my words or action are doing to you. I won’t degrade you, call you names or demand things from you that you aren’t willing to give.

It breaks my heart to see this great country treating each other so horribly after all, this country is just that….a melting pot of differences and part of what make it so amazing. The hate going on is toxic and creating so much separation that I worry it can never be overcome. I have 2 teen daughters and I fear a sad and dismal future for them if we can’t, as a nation, turn off all of this hate. I pray I do my part. I pray for my family, I pray for you my neighbor and my brother. I pray for your well being and safety and as for this wonderful country, I do pray that the Lord help us!!

I know this blog content has nothing to do with portrait photography, but I do hope it gives you some insight into me as the photographer and for what we believe as a business. If you like it, let us know. Comment below and give me your thoughts. I really wonder if I’m alone in my thinking (if I am it’s okay, I still love you!). Visit our website and check out our business, you’ll love it! Thanks for reading 🙂

Just a little glimpse

Sarah 28

This is just a little glimpse at our recent session with Sarah. She came in like so many others. She was nervous, of course but excited and anxious at the same time. It was something she had wanted to do to embrace her fear and beauty. It didn’t take long. She was a bit shaky at first but with a little coaching and fun she relaxed pretty quickly and it was apparent in her images.

Many women would love to have images like this taken but shy away due to fear. That fear comes from so many things. The fear of baring oneself physically and emotionally. The fear of what her images will look like. Fear of being stereotyped in a certain way. These fears can be deep rooted and hard to overcome. But once all these fears are conquered…..it is very empowering.

             Sarah 11                                                   Sarah 12

We strive to rid each women we shoot of all the fears. We enjoy the moment and the subject in front of us. We do our very best to help them relax and get the images they will be proud of. It’s a little journey we take with each woman and it is very inspiring.

We love the end of the session, once we are showing our clients all their images, the smiles! That is the moment that each woman is the most beautiful. They see themselves (maybe for the first time) as beautiful! Their confidence grows in that moment and it is obvious and the look of confidence is simply…….gorgeous! If only we could take that moment and bottle it then sell it to others.

In a way, we can. We can give each woman that comes to us this opportunity. We can give them the chance to see themselves in this light, to see how totally awesome and beautiful they are. It is a great feeling we get from each of our clients AND is the reason we love doing this so much.

Sarah 22

So, here is the little glimpse we wanted to share of the beautiful images we got from this session. It started out with nervous energy but ended with a happy and confident client.
